Did you know?

• The River Bourne has a mainly urban catchment, flowing though underground culverts, revetments and has undergone canalisation.
• The river starts in two locations: Canford Heath and Alderney recreation ground.
• The river is just 13km long with 5.7km of it culverted (that’s just over 40%).
• Its catchment area is just over 14km2 which drains 70% of Poole.
• As the catchment is predominantly urban it means that it receives a lot of road-off that contributes to flooding and pollution
• You can’t see the mouth of this river, as it enters the sea though a culvert (underground tunnel).
