Did you know?
• Sticklebacks are aggressive predators feeding on tadpoles, invertebrates, and even other small fish.
• They can live for five years growing up to 7cm.
• They will live in ponds, lakes and rivers.
• Reproduction happens in the spring where the male will develop a red throat and belly then perform a courtship dance to attract a mate. The female will lay up to 400 eggs, which the male will protect until they hatch.
• Once the eggs have hatched the male will continue to protect them for about 4 weeks, at which point they are big enough to survive on their own.
