Wessex Rivers Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Joanna Baldwin as Chair of Trustees, as well as the appointment of Jo Lewis as a Trustee.
These appointments bring a wealth of experience in leadership, governance, communications, conservation and environmental policy, further strengthening the Trust's ability to restore and protect rivers across the Wessex region.
Joanna succeeds George Seligman as Chair, who will continue to serve on the Board as a Trustee. The Trust would like to thank George for his leadership as Chair and is pleased that his knowledge and experience will continue to support the organisation.
Welcoming our new Chair
Joanna Baldwin brings extensive experience in international business, communications and governance. She spent her executive career in advertising, advising globally recognised brands on their marketing and communications strategies, including British Airways, Intel, Hewlett Packard and the European Central Bank.
Following the creation of a digital strategy agency in the early days of digital communications, Joanna went on to lead the international team for Bono's PRODUCT(RED), helping to raise funds for the Global Fund's fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa through commercial brand licensing partnerships.
Alongside her executive career, Joanna has served as a non-executive director and committee chair on the boards of Aviva France, HMRC and Dudley Building Society, with a particular focus on customer engagement and communications. She is also currently a Trustee of the HMS Victory Preservation Company.
While much of Joanna's connection with water has come through sailing, she also spends time in the Stour Valley in Dorset, giving her a growing appreciation for the rivers and landscapes that Wessex Rivers Trust works to protect and restore.
Welcoming Jo Lewis to the Board
The Trust is also pleased to welcome Jo Lewis as a Trustee.
Jo is Chief Executive Officer of Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, a longstanding partner of Wessex Rivers Trust. The two organisations work closely together to develop and deliver nature-based solutions in the chalkstream headwaters of the Hampshire Avon and across the wider landscape.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is recognised as a pioneer in nature-based education and wellbeing, operating two Care Farms and an extensive education and wellbeing programme. Jo also serves on the boards of Big Chalk and the Wiltshire & Swindon Local Nature Partnership.
