• Water crowfoot is part of the buttercup family and its scientific name is Ranuculus aquatilis.
• You can see this plant all year round, however, it flowers from about May to September with little white flowers held above the water.
• It likes faster flowing, clean water which is between about 15-60cm deep with access to lots of sunlight meaning if you see it, it’s a great sign of clean water.
• Water crowfoot provides great habitat for shrimps, snails, insect larvae and nymphs, it is also great at oxygenating the water which is very useful for the fish.
• Great Britain is home to 20% of the worlds Water crowfoot.
