Did you know?

• There are over 1,400 species of bats in the world however the UK only has 18 species.
• Bats are the only true flying mammals and are more closely related to humans than they are to mice.
• There are a range of bats that live in the gardens such as Noctule, Serotine, Common pipistrelle, Soprano pipistrelle and the Long-eared bat.
• Bats such as the Common and Soprano pipistrelle can eat over 3,000 insects a night, making the river a valuable place for them to hunt invertebrates, such as caddisfly and midges.
