Did you know?

• The riparian corridor is the area between the edge of the river and the start of a meadow, field, road, or housing, for example.
• It provides a really good strip of land for wildlife, as animals can move around it in freely and plants won’t be cut down.
• As climate change is having greater effects it is going to be increasingly important to give wildlife the ability to move along the river to new habitats.
• They are also great for the river as they can help to limit erosion, as tree roots will help to hold the bank together.
• The riparian corridor can also help to limit flooding by slowing down the time it takes the water to reach the river by absorbing it. The land can also take some of the nutrients out of the water.
