• Pendulous sedge is a native sedge to the UK and its scientific name is Carex pendula.
• It is an evergreen perennial plant meaning that it stays green all year and lives for more than two years.
• They are found in wetter areas often along riverbanks but can also be a native woodland indicator.
• They flower between May and July producing long drooping flowers with plenty of seeds, which can then be taken away by the wind.
• When the leaves are dried, they can be twisted into rope which can be used as matting.
