Did you know?
• A drought is a period of time when an area experiences below normal levels of rainfall, this can make it hard to determine when exactly a drought starts and ends.
• Droughts are expected to become increasingly more intense and frequent due to climate change.
• Climate change and population growth have both put massive strains on the water systems, especially during summer months, this means we must be more efficient with our water usage.
• Water is being abstracted at unsustainable rates meaning the aquifers and rivers aren’t being replenished as fast as we are taking water out of them.
• When water levels drop, the concentration of pollutants in the river increases, harming the wildlife.
