Did you know?
• Its scientific name is Lysichiton americanus, however, it gets its common name from the odour it emits.
• It is a non-native invasive flowering perennial plant that has come from North America.
• In 1901, it was first introduced to the UK for cultivation but escaped. Now it outcompetes other plants, due to its size and the amount of shade it creates.
• They like living the wet, marshy boggy habitats and can grow massive leaves between 40cm and 150cm wide and has bright yellow flowers.
• It is a slow growing plant only flowering and producing seeds after three years or longer, meaning it can be hard to catch when it is young.
